Former Associate Deputy U.S. Attorney General Peter Ferrara, who served under current Attorney General William Barr, published an op-ed in The Hill about the importance of the ASCAP and BMI consent decrees to the entire music industry. In the op-ed, Ferrara discusses the Department of Justice’s decision to open a public comment period to examine the decrees and notes that if the decrees were to be removed, it would harm local musicians, small business owners and consumers and ultimately cause chaos in the marketplace.
